The Usk Valley

After a sunrise hike to the peak of Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons, I was rewarded with the sun shining golden light into the valley with a few patches of mist lingering.

This image was taken for my sister and brother in law; After a sub-zero hike up a mountain on skins (and nearly vomiting in the process), we got to the peak with perfect visibility and an electrified sky. I always feel the need to comment that this photo could look like I’ve gone mental with the saturation in editing, however the saturation has been reduced from what was taken in camera- in person the red glow was nearly burned into my retinas!

A classic view of the lake that appears to hang over the sea. Where I was standing was a touch unnerving as the drop a couple of feet in front was over 100m.
